CORTEZ ADOBE ANIMAL HOSPITAL, LLC

Our Staff

Doctor

  • Nancy Wegner , D.V.M.

A native of Florida, Nancy fell in love with the people and geography of Colorado while earning her Bachelor of Science degree from Colorado State University.  She also met her husband, Erik, a Colorado native while there.  After completing her degree in 1985, she stayed at the University to earn her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, graduating with honors in 1989.

Nancy began her veterinary career in California where she practiced in a progressive mixed animal practice for three years.  However, the draw of Colorado proved to be stong and the Wegners returned to Colorado in 1992 when Dr. Dave Herrick offered Nancy the opportunity to join his practice.  Nancy and Erik enjoy spending time in the mountains with their two boys, Freeland and Ford.  Sharing their home and lives are a dog, 2 cats, and a horse.

After opening her own successful practice in 1995, Nancy was thankful for the opportunity to combine her practice with that of Dr. Herrick to form Cortez Adobe Animal Hospital in 1997.  She has had the privilege to serve pet owners in the Four Corners area for over 15 years.  Although there have been many changes at Cortez Adobe over the years, our dedication to the compassionate and capable care of your companion pet has not changed.

Nancy, and the entire staff at Cortez Adobe, look forward to giving your the peace of mind that comes with knowing that your pet is well cared for.

Technician

  • Chantel

Chantel moved to Cortez about two and a half years ago from San Diego California with her husband. She came to this area following her parents after they bought property in Dolores.

Ever since she was little Chantel always had a connection with animals. When Chantel is not at work taking care of the animals you can find her (and Tanya) hiking in the Dolores mountains or camping at Jackson Lake in Mancos.

Another place you can find Chantel is in the kitchen. She loves to cook, bake and create tasty treats for her friends and family. One of her current endeavors is learning how to make sushi, nigiri and sashimi and rolls of various types.

Aside from being co-workers at Cortez Adobe Animal Hospital, Tanya, Jenny and Chantel are best friends and can be found hanging out around town together.

Assistants

  • Allie

Allie was left on our doorstep several years ago and made Cortez Adobe her home for many years. She has now moved to Tanya's clan of cats and is doing quite well. She has learned that the house has many interesting functions, one being the television which she finds thrilling.

  • Mr. Squeaks

Squeaks came to us through the city and was un-adoptable due to a heart condition. We decided to give him his due nine lives and keep him at the clinic with us. He is a rambunctious cat that tends to get into anything and everything. If you buy a bag of food with holes in them you can thank Squeaks. You will find that he greets you in the waiting room any chance that he gets. He loves to sit on top of the cat carriers and peak in and see who is there.
